BOD vs BODi – what the heck is the difference? Should you buy it? Is it worth it? That’s what we’re covering in this blog post.
So, when it comes to at-home fitness programs, there are plenty of options to choose from. Two popular options are BODi and Beachbody on Demand. But what are the differences between these two programs, and which one is right for you?
BODi vs Beachbody on Demand – What’s the difference?
One major difference between BODi and Beachbody on Demand is the variety of workouts offered. Beachbody on Demand offers a wide range of complete programs, including P90X, Insanity, and 21 Day Fix, to name a few.
The other key difference about Beachbody on Demand is that all the programs are pre-recorded. Think of it as a Netflix series where there are shows with multiple episodes (only it’s a program with multiple workouts).
BODi, on the other hand, is live and interactive. The workouts are scheduled for you to show up at a certain time and workout with the Supertrainer in real time.
All these live workouts are then recorded into a library of short, individual workouts that you can access whenever you want. BODi classes are single individual classes, rather than an entire 6 – 12 week program. They are also only 30 minutes long (which I love).
So if you’re someone who loves the structure of knowing what you’re going to be focused on in your workouts, and you don’t need them to feel live and interactive, then Beachbody on Demand will be totally your jam. If you like variety… I mean LOTS of variety, and a schedule of new stuff coming out every day, then you will appreciate what BODi has to offer.
I’ve also noticed that BODi focuses more on workouts like Barre, Pilates and even spin classes. They still have weight lifting and cardio classes, but they are less emphasized, and there’s a good reason for this. Weight lifting programs should be planned out so that you’re targeting different muscle groups with each workout.
Because barre and Pilates are more full-body focused, you can do them daily, so there’s less risk of over training. It’s also why I love them so much, btw.
BOD vs BODi – Let’s talk cost.
When it comes to cost, Beachbody on Demand (BOD) is an annual subscription service that gives you access to ALL the workout programs. What you don’t get, are the live, interactive classes, or the recordings of those classes. The cost for Beachbody on Demand is $119 USD annually.
BODi is an additional fee and it’s only available to Beachbody on Demand members. You cannot purchase it on it’s own. In terms of access, you have the option to pay for it monthly (19.99 USD), or you can upgrade your annual Beachbody on Demand membership to include BODi for the year as well. Together the two memberships combined is $179 USD.
So is BODi Worth it?
I’ll be honest, when I first heard about this change, I said no. I didn’t think an extra $20 on top of what I was already paying would be worth it. But then I got the option to do a free trial and I was HOOKED! Mostly because I love the style of workouts with BODi. I was already paying a separate fee for Alo Moves because I wanted more barre and Pilates options and now I had it all on one platform.
Now, I would NOT recommend paying the monthly additional cost of $19.99. Instead it makes way more financial sense to pay the annual upgrade fee, which makes BODi much less (around $60 more per year – which is totally worth it).
Ultimately, both BODi and Beachbody on Demand offer great options for at-home fitness, but it comes down to your personal preference, budget and goals. Whether you’re looking for a diverse range of workouts, a customized approach, affordability, or minimal equipment needs, both programs have something to offer. It’s worth exploring both options and deciding which one aligns best with your needs.
