RXBar Whole Food Protein Bar Review and GIVEAWAY – Jersey Girl Talk

RXBar Whole Food Protein Bar Review and GIVEAWAY – Jersey Girl Talk

Four years after launching in a west suburban basement, RXBar, maker of a fast-growing line of protein bars, was sold to Kellogg Co. for $600 million. They must have been doing something right when they created the brand to get the attention of such a large company. Over the last several years healthy eating has become more popular, people are getting more fit, taking better care of their bodies and looking for cleaner and better snacks.

RXBar hit the scene with a no nonsense approach to protein bars; make it clean, simple, taste good and leave all the junk out. People like myself were getting tired of protein bars being loaded with chemicals and garbage. We wanted something tasty and good for you. RXBar filled the void! This post will give you an overview of RXBar, a protein-bar-lover review and at the very end you can enter for a chance to win a Starbucks gift card ($25 value) and a bunch of samples of their newest flavor : PUMPKIN SPICE

Most of you have probably seen RXbar’s clever packaging popping up all over. They keep their designs simple, literally just listing out the ingredients since they are obviously proud of the fact that their isn’t anything to hide about what’s in their bars. When their team reached out to me to test out their products I was so excited!  I include protein bars as part of my daily nutrition in order to hit my macros, but I am always looking for new bars to try that are clean, high in protein, delicious flavor profile and that uses whole-food ingredients.

Some details:

  • RXBARs are whole food protein bars made with egg whites, dates, nuts and natural ingredients like 100% cacao or blueberries to provide added taste and texture.
  • No added sugar, no gluten, no soy, no dairy, no GMO, no B.S.
  • 12g of egg white protein, 3g of fiber, 210 calories.
  • Perfect as a breakfast bar on-the-go, pre- and post-workout bite, or a convenient and healthy snack between meals.

Most RXBars are 210 calories and have only a small handful of ingredients. As far as macros are concerned they are around 8g of fat, 1.5g saturated fat, 0g trans far. They have 24g of carbs with 6g of that coming from fiber and 15g from sugar. They are 12g of protein, which is a bit lower than I am used to in a protein bar, but that’s not extremely low. Normally I go for a bar with around 18-22g of protein but if I only want something to hold me over until my next meal 12 grams works for me.

No surprises here. One look at the wrapper, and you can see what they’re all about.

RXBars are also Gluten Free, Soy Free and Dairy Free. The ingredients are clearly listed on the front and back and an example of some are Dates, Peanuts, Egg Whites, Natural Peanut Flavor and Sea Salt – THAT IS IT FOLKS! No sucralose, fillers and junk like other protein bars. The bars are very filling and dense so you won’t find yourself feeling unsatisfied or still hungry. They are 52 grams per serving/bar.

They come in a variety of flavors and I love that some are more fruity and some are more for the peanut butter and chocolate lovers out there. I personally love the Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter over the fruit flavors, but that’s just me 🙂 They also come in a version for kids as well, so if you want to ensure your little ones are having a healthy snack on the go RXBar for Kids is great too!

The texture is chewy and I do recommend having a big glass of water with you when you eat them as they are moist and delicious but can be a bit sticky. As you an see from the bar I broke in half below, it looks like nutritious food, not chemicals and sticky goop. What I also love about the RXBar is that it doesn’t make me bloated and uncomfortable after eating them. Some protein bars using ingredients that can make you bloat up quickly, that are harder to digest and even loads of sugar alcohols that make you feel puffy and retain water. I am sure most ladies are NOT interested in that, so that’s what I also love about the bars being so clean.

GIVEAWAY DETAILS:

Okay now that I’ve shared all of the important details about the bars with you, it’s time for you to get your hands on some and test them out for yourself!
